Screens on the web: what do visitors see and click?

Share:

Most visitors never scroll to the bottom of your homepage. So what do they actually see, and what do they click? On the web, UXCam shows you, page by page.

What you'll learn

  • Which pages matter most? Every page with its visits and what changed since last month, and red badges when something got worse.

  • Where do visitors go? Flow shows how people move through your site. Analytics shows where they get frustrated, come in and leave.

  • How is this page doing? Views, time on page, dead clicks, rage clicks and quick exits, plus where visitors came from and went next.

  • What do people click? The Clicks and Elements views on desktop, tablet and phone, with a replay of anyone who clicked.

  • Where do people get frustrated? The elements people click again and again, or click with nothing happening, worst first.

  • How far do people scroll? Scroll reach, the biggest drop-off, and the sessions that stopped there.

Ideas to try on your own product

  • Check that your main call to action sits where most visitors actually look.

  • Compare desktop and phone on your top landing page. They often need different layouts.

  • Look for clicks on things that aren't links, like images or headlines, and consider making them links.

  • If the scroll map shows a sharp drop, check whether that part of the page looks like the end.

Your first step

Open your homepage's scroll map and see how many visitors reach your main call to action.
